At a time when employee involvement and the promotion of a strong organisational culture are core themes in people management, Casais Group once again invested in an initiative that reflects its identity and the values it stands for. On Saturday, 21 June, another edition of the Arraial Casais was held at Parque da Ponte in Braga, a festival bringing together around 1,500 people, including current and retired employees, family members and business partners.
The initiative, now in its third year, has been gaining ground and become more important in-house, with an increase in the number of participants in the various events each year. Throughout the day, attendees enjoyed a festive and relaxed atmosphere, with traditional cuisine, popular games, entertainment and various musical performances. The group Sons do Minho closed the day with a concert specially sponsored by the Casais Group in support of the Festas de São Jão de Braga for the enjoyment of the entire local community.
António Carlos Rodrigues, CEO of the Casais Group sees this event as “a gathering, a get-together, and a celebration of our culture. A day that promotes socialising among current and retired employees and their families, because everyone is part of our history.” He also emphasised the importance of keeping in contact, especially given the Group’s global presence and its teams spread increasingly further afield.
Throughout the day, various cultural groups were in attendance, including the Grupo de Cavaquinhos, Grupo de Bombos e Cabeçudos, the “Ardinas Braga” travelling entertainers, the Zimbre Brass group, the Tuna de Medicina of Universidade do Minho, and the Bem Bolado ensemble. There were street food stalls, and jumping castles and other amusements for the younger ones, as well as social areas which lent themselves well to the general atmosphere of sharing, and sundowner drinks provided by Porta da Loja.
This type of initiative is part of a broader strategy of valuing people and promoting well-being at work, both of which have become increasingly important in the construction sector. In a traditionally demanding industry, Casais has been making a name for itself by investing in management practices that develop teams and bring them closer together, as a way to enhance training measures and inculcate deeper sense of belonging. The Arraial Casais today is a tangible demonstration of this commitment.
