Casais Group concluded the acquisition of the production unit of Terratest in Spain. The newly acquired Terratest has a 66-year history in the market and is a leading operator specialising in special foundations and ground improvement. The agreement includes taking over the teams – ensuring the continuation of more than 300 jobs, industrial assets, machinery, and two factories, with the assets located chiefly in Madrid, Cartagena and Seville.
This integration marks a strategic step in strengthening the technical expertise of the Group, which views Terratest’s talent and experience as a key factor in achieving this goal. Terratest’s teams, widely respected for their expertise and known for their impressive international track record, will strengthen the Casais Group’s engineering and execution capabilities.
According to António Carlos Rodrigues, CEO of the Casais Group, “this acquisition is a clear example of our internationalisation and specialisation strategy. We have ramped up, strengthened our expertise and integrated highly qualified teams capable of enhancing the Casais Group’s responsiveness throughout the Iberian Peninsula and in other the markets where we already operate. With the complementarity between Terratest and Ancorpor, we can achieve a more robust and competitive technical portfolio.”
The Iberian Peninsula is now a thoroughly integrated area from a social, economic and political point of view. This acquisition is indicative of the Group’s intentions to expand both within Portugal and in Spain, a vision that embraces the advantages of taking international opportunities based on a common foundation of technical expertise and industrial capacity. Integration with Ancorpor—which already has a presence in Portugal, Spain, Gibraltar and the United States of America—will also broaden the international experience already gained by the Terratest teams.
The integration plan includes strategic investments to modernise the Seville factory, renovate equipment and improve production and maintenance areas, where management systems (SAP, KPIs and digital tools) used by Casias Group will be implemented. This approach values existing technical knowledge and ensures integration with a focus on efficiency, continuity, and modernisation.
The Terratest brand will continue and maintain its own identity, but will be integrated in Casais Group’s Iberian Geotechnical Hub. All of the approximately 300 employees will keep their jobs and current conditions of employment, as a way to preserve existing teams, retain know-how and maintain production capacity. This acquisition is in line with the Casais Group’s long-term strategy, which values knowledge, expertise, autonomy, entrepreneurship and industrial capacity.
