Grupo Casais has been recognised at the Sustainability in the Built Environment Awards, organised by BUILT CoLAB, winning in the Circularity category with the B&B HOTEL Madrid Tres Cantos and The First Guimarães projects. This recognition highlights the group’s ongoing commitment to industrialised construction—an approach that promotes sustainability, efficiency, and a reduced environmental impact.
The B&B Hotel Madrid Tres Cantos is Spain’s first hybrid industrialised construction building, featuring a combined wood and concrete structure, with off-site and prefabricated solutions that help reduce its carbon footprint by 59%. Meanwhile, The First Guimarães, located within the Minho Innovation and Technology Hub (MITH), reinforces Casais’ dedication to innovation and the transition towards a more sustainable and circular construction model, optimising materials and building processes.
The industrialisation of construction, applied to both projects, results in less material waste, improved energy efficiency, and faster project execution, making the buildings more sustainable throughout their lifecycle. Additionally, their lifespan is extended, as materials can be reused in future constructions. BUILT CoLAB’s recognition further underscores the positive impact of this approach in the construction sector, encouraging the adoption of new solutions aligned with ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles.
