On July 20th 2022, Casais Group presented the 1st sustainability report, António Carlos Rodrigues, Casais Group CEO, recognizes that in the challenge for a more sustainable future “it is imperative that the next generation of buildings incorporate a design and construction mentality designed for change (theDesign for Change). Building components mustn´t depreciate as long as they can be dismantled and reused at the limit avoiding the need to extract more resources in the coming centuries.”
“The buildings, the visible face of our actions and decisions, will mirror the change in our behaviours,” according to António Carlos Rodrigues, who made the group’s sustainability commitments before an audience that included the President Braga City HallRicardo Rio and the President of Portuguese Environment Agency, Nuno Lacasta.
“We believe that we have an important role in the construction of societies and the future of communities. Therefore, we have been strengthening our commitment to the sustainability of our clients, employees and other communities, thus contributing to the pillars of a balanced society and aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”, defends the group’s CEO.
In this sustainability report, the Casais Group assumes clear and objective commitments, among which stands out the commitment to incorporate ESG criteria (Environmental, Social and Governance) in all significant investments and the evaluation for acceptance of large projects. The Casais Group also assumes the commitment to ensure positive discrimination of suppliers and service providers based on the proximity to the construction site.
The presentation of the sustainability report took place at the Tibães Monastery in Braga in a ceremony that pinpoints the group’s membership in GRACE – Responsible Companies, a non-profit business association with a public utility, active in the areas of Social Responsibility and Sustainability.
